Before Nicki Minaj makes her debut on “American Idol” in January, fans will get a closer look into her life on an E! reality special. The network has confirmed that the “Pound the Alarm” rapper will star in three episodes.
Lil Wayne had the best birthday ever. Not only did he top Elvis’ record for most appearances on the Billboard Hot 100, but the Young Money boss received an extravagant gift from his protégée Nicki Minaj. To thank him for all he’s done for her career, the “Starships” rapper presented him with a red Campagna T-Rex 14R cyclecar.
According to TMZ, the three-wheeled motorcycle-car hybrid weighs only 1,040 pounds and reaches speeds of 150 mph. The $70,000 vehicle was delivered to Wayne at his 30th birthday bash in Hollywood last night.
Nicki even added her personal touch, transcribing “Nicki Loves Tunechi” on the back. “Hope wayne likes his gift,” she tweeted.
The queen of the Hearts, Dawn Richard, marches ahead with her solo career on her full-length debut GoldenHeart, the first in a trilogy. The former Dirty Money diva strikes a sexy pose against a rock on the black-and-white cover. Following the release of her iTunes-topping EP Armor On, Dawn serves up 15 tracks including the previously released “Pretty Wicked Things” and first single “’86,” which will debut on September 26.
“The last six years have been a battle for people to understand and conform me into what they really want me to be and I’ve kind of had to protect that throughout this whole journey,” said Dawn, who split with Bad Boy Records earlier this year. “It’s kind of the story of me protecting this golden heart, which really kind of symbolizes my own heart and my passion for this music thing and really who I am.”
GoldenHeart arrives on October 16, with BlackHeart and RedemptionHeart to follow. See the tracklisting below.
America, here are your judges. Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, and Randy Jackson took a seat at the judges’ table during the first round of auditions for “American Idol” in New York City today. They posed for photos outside before making their way in to begin their first day on the job.
“What I think I wanna be is honest and someone that the contestants can look to for guidance,” said Mariah, who was already amused by the New York talent. “Several classic moments so far lol.”
The Grammy-winning diva was reportedly paid close to $18 million for one season, while Nicki is getting $12 million for a one-year deal, an insider told The Associated Press.
The Young Money rapper doesn’t mind if the contestants cover her songs. “If they want to, it’ll be fun,” she said. “I’ll probably start cracking up laughing just ’cause I’m mentally unstable sometimes, but they shouldn’t be afraid at all. We’ll have fun. The Barbz are gonna be watching. It’s gonna be poppin’.”
Randy Jackson welcomed Nicki to the “Idol” family. “I’m happy that Nicki’s here. She brings a whole ‘nother cool vibe that we’ve never had on the show,” he told the AP.
