TMZ has learned Shaunie filed legal papers yesterday in L.A., even though the couple lives in Florida. The petition says although Shaunie is filing for legal separation, she intends to file for divorce. She lists “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for separation.We’re told Shaunie pulled her kids out of school in Florida several days ago and they are with her now in L.A.

So I’ve come to the conclusion that Shaunie O’Neal is the smartest NBA Wive there is. If I remember correctly, Shaq filed for divorce against Shaunie back in 07, claiming that she was being secretive about her assets and demanding that she provide proper accounting of all funds, stocks and bonds acquired during their marriage. (In Layman’s terms, she was stashing cash throughout her marriage. =  #smartbishmove.) A few months later Shaunie announced that they were back together stating “We’ve both learned a lot and know that our family comes first and that’s the main thing for both of us. Neither one of us could probably answer why we were getting [divorced] in the first place.“

Fast Forward to last week, intimate email exchanges between Shaq and Gilbert Arena’s fiancee Laura Govan were leaked to gossip sites. Laura (who is currently pregnant with Gilbert’s third child) formerly worked as a PR rep for the Sacramento Kings and briefly worked as Shaq’s personal assistant when he played for the Lakers.

I’m not sure how these emails got leaked but I have a hunch (looks over at Shaunie). What better way to take a man to the cleaners than to have public proof that he was cheating. #smartbishmove! In Shaq’s own words “Tell me how my a– tastes”.  Three days after the emails were leaked, Shaunie flew to California and claimed herself as a resident. The next day she filed for separation.

Why, you ask, would Shaunie cross the country to file in L.A.? Well, a spouse generally does a lot better in the spousal support department here in California. Shaunie is asking for both spousal and child support — though she did not specify an amount for either. -TMZ

All I’m saying is  this looks as though it was carefully planned and executed. :-p Interesting enough, Shaunie is working on an “NBA Wives”  Reality Show.
